News of the Old Dominion Morgan Horse Association

News of the Old Dominion Morgan Horse Association

I hope everyone has survived the bad weather of January and February. Given all the snow that has kept us from equine pursuits, I’m sure I’m not the only one who is longing for Spring to get here.

BOARD MEETING

The ODMHA Board met on January 16that the Rockville Library. This was followed by a meeting of the Show Committee. Both groups discussed the Fall Show at length, and decided that given the Show’s finances, and the economy in general, we would not put on a show in 2010. Instead we will spend this year on various fund raising events so that we can afford to put on a really good show in 2011.

Our main fund raising activity will be to hold a series of clinics in various disciplines and in various parts of the state. We will advertise these to the general public, charge for auditors, and sell food.  We have volunteers for all the clinics:

  • Dressage = Kathy Freise & Brooke Logan
  • Saddle seat & Fitting and Showmanship = Beryl Herzog & Karen Sansom
  • Jumping = Dawn Cooper & Michelle Scott
  • Trail = Timmerie Cohen & Kimberly Lawrence
  • Driving = Sharon Smith & Martha Allen
  • Western = Beryl Herzog & Karen Sansom

These volunteers can always use more help and ideas, so please feel free to contact any of them with suggestions or questions.  Other fundraising ideas are also welcome.

We will be finalizing the Clinic Events calendar for the year over the next few weeks so keep checking the website, odmhamorgans.com for the schedule.

ROSTER:

By the time you read this, the ODMHA Roster should be out. If you have paid your dues and have not received your copy, contact Martha Allen.

CONDOLENCES:

We offer our sympathy to Dutch and Penny Dorschel on the death of their beloved gelding Gralotte Irishman (TM Gem Beam x Gralotte Willowanne). “Irish” lived to the ripe old age of  thirty and was a true gentleman, who was always willing to provide rides to timid novices.
