Old Dominion Morgan Horse Association
Youth Club

avyouth_youth.jpg

The Old Dominion Morgan Horse Association welcomes all members who have not reached their 22nd birthday as of December 1 of the previous year to join one of our active youth group. We are working toward AMHA Blue Ribbon Status and participate in American Morgan Horse Association Youth (AMHAY) programs and activities. Horse ownership is not required for youth group membership.

The youth group both are involved in the AMHAY's Horsemastership Achievement Program. The AMHAY has what we feel is the very best youth program in the industry. The program has five levels designed to encourage and recognize the mastery of skills and knowledge involved in proper and safe horse activities as well as in horse care and management.

The Super Nova Youth Club has a fun show scheduled for June 3, 2007 at Rosemount in Fredericksburg, Virginia. In 2006 they had over 10 horses in each class, and made a profit of over $300. They are looking forward to  2007 with more walk/trot classes for the younger kids, and they plan on adding a few more games.

Fun Show

The show was very wet!!  We took 3 horses, Marci Cesanek took 2 horses, and there was 4 other horses that were not morgans.  In total there was 9 horses. We expected a lot more but the rain kept them away I guess.  We had the fitting and showmanship class, and all the 18 and over classes, but we combined the 12-17 year olds and 11 and under classes due to there was not many horses.  Karen Sansom set up a great trail course, but due to the rain not many people did it. Kim Poates, ridding K.C. Painted Jake, won the high point award for the show. We would like to thank Dan Pavan for being our judge, Debbie and Carly Pavan for being the ringmasters, Casey Turner for being the announcer, Colin Pavan for giving out the ribbons and prizes, and Karen Sansom for organizing and judging our trail courses. We appreciate all the support!!

Youth news:

Coming up, we are doing our own little horse show at Marci Cesanek’s house with the little kids because they didn’t get to ride at the show. We will be using up the prizes that we didn't use at the fun show. We will be having pizza and drinks after the show. The youth group will be at Mid-A selling our t-shirts, sweatshirts, hats, and mugs and showing our morgans!!  Hope to see everyone there!
